You have found them.  Their name is JUMA

This high energy and talented group of young musicians delivers a fusion of rhythm and blues, reggae, acoustic, psychedelic, and classic rock; a riveting combination that will infuse any event with a mesmerizing, electric quality.  JUMA is a dynamic blend of four young men – all from Hanover, Virginia.

 

For three years, JUMA has brought their music in regular performances to audiences at Alley Katz, Coffee Talk Café, Three Chopt Bar and Grill, Zin’s Restaurant, Potter’s Pub, Andy’s, State Fair of Virginia and many other events including festivals and fund-raisers around Richmond and central Virginia. JUMA won the Atlee hosted Battle of the Bands, judged by Fighting Gravity and local radio station XL102 and the “got milk?” MTV, Rolling Stones Magazine sponsored battle of the bands.

JUMA ‘s sound is unique in its appeal to all age groups, combining traditional influences with modern sounds and sensibilities.  JUMA brings vibrant vocals, throbbing bass, hot lead, and rhythm guitars together with strong drums, and even a harmonica to bring a crowd to life.

JUMA has been known to bring out guest musicians, including saxophone, keyboard, congas, flute, and trumpets to liven up performances. For smaller venues, JUMA plays intimate acoustic sets.

Since all the members were born on a Friday, the name JUMA – which in Swahili means, “born on a Friday,” seemed a perfect fit. JUMA has independently produced two albums.
